There’s been a lot of interest in my film simulation recipes, so I thought that I’d put them all in one convenient place. Hopefully this will make things a little easier for those that are looking for them. Below are the different film simulation recipes that I’ve created for the Fujifilm X100F. Is there a particular Portra film that you have in mind?
Well, I’ve only tried the 35mm 400ASA which I absolutely love, so that’s my only reference!

I’ll take a look, I think Classic Chrome is a good starting point. In fact, I felt like the CC in the Fujifilm X-A3, which is slightly different than the CC in the X100F and X-Pro2, was fairly close to Ektar.

Funny thing, I’ve never used this film, but I have two rolls of it sitting around. Maybe this is a good excuse to use it….

Love your film simulation recipes! We are spoiled of choices here. I have been trying to adapt the JPEG only approach as I struggle to find the time to post process my photos. Your film simulations are a great starting point and a big help. Thank you!

Really nice recipes and info at general ! Can you share with us how to add 7 different settings on the x100f since it can take up to 3 custom WB settings and there too many film simulation that somebody would like to try with different B and R points ?

The custom white balance option is a custom measurement, and only one film simulation recipe calls for that. You can only save one white balance shift, unfortunately. I have the different shifts memorized, but you might want to write it down or make a note on your phone or something for quick reference. I hope in the future that Fujifilm will allow you to assign custom white balance shifts to your quick access custom presets. That would make things much easier.

I’ve always wondered why Fujifilm, as an ideal street camera, did not simulate the Fujipress 800 film for its cameras.
I’m excited to ask you if you could try experimenting with this fantastic simulation.
It is wonderful to find good old films like the HP5, the Tri-X, in your simulations.
Incredible to find the CineStill 800T, the cross-processing, and all the others.
Surprising to see how truly they remind me of the originals, in some cases so resounding!
I appreciate all of your kind words! I wonder sometimes why Fujifilm doesn’t offer more film simulation options. They’re great and they are popular, so why not put more effort into creating them? Perhaps they will in the future. In the meantime I will continue to make recipes based on classic films. Thank you for commenting!
Hello! I would like to thank you for sharing these film simulation recipes. My friends noticed how they differ from the pictures took by someone they know that has also a camera from other brand. And they tend to search for me if I’m around to take the pictures with my camera instead of their own smartphones. But one thing will make me the happiest person this Christmas if you can make the Fuji Natura 1600. They say it is the same with Fuji Superia 1600? Thank you and looking forward for my humble request. 😉
Fuji Natura 1600 is a film simulation that I have worked on. The issue I came across is the tone, as the film has almost a peach hue, but I will indeed keep working at it. Thank you for commenting!

I appreciate the comment! No, I haven’t figured it out yet. It’s a tricky one because of the color cast. I won’t give up (yet), though.
What are your 7 favorite film simulations, that you have entered into the settings of your X100f?
Kodachrome II, Velvia, Superia 800, Fujicolor 400H, Tri-X, Agfa Scala and Acros Push-Process. I mean, those are my current 7 favorites, as it changes sometimes. Thank you for asking!
Ritchie, these are great presets and very helpful. I just recently ‘stumbled’ upon these and started trying them out. You are welcome! I have attempted Portra 160. I had created one that I thought was close sometimes, and not close other times. I need to get back to work on it, see if I can make it better.

I’m curious to know what black and white simulation you recommend for a good contrasty shot that works for most people and portrait shots? I find myself using the standard ACROS that was built in but still uploading the jpegs into Lightroom to strengthen the contrast; would love to get that look straight out of camera!
