Introducing the Fuji X Weekly App for iOS!

The Fuji X Weekly app is a mobile film simulation recipe library containing over 100 recipes for Fujifilm cameras! The film simulation recipes in the app are the same ones that you know and love from this website, but now take them with you on the go, and have them at your fingertips wherever you are!

The Fuji X Weekly app is free! No annoying ads. Get access to 100+ film simulation recipes, which can be sorted alphabetically or chronologically. Each recipe contains an assortment of sample images, as well as a list of compatible cameras. Within each recipe there’s a place where you can keep notes, a useful feature for many of you, no doubt. The app will work offline, so if you don’t have internet access but need to find a certain recipe, no problem! The Fuji X Weekly app is a handy tool for Fujifilm photographers, an essential app to accompany your X-series camera. This is my Christmas gift to you!

This app does have some advanced features that can be unlocked by becoming a Fuji X Weekly Patron! These advanced features include filtering by sensor or camera, as well as by film simulation or color/B&W, and the ability to favorite recipes for quick access. The best app experience is reserved for Patrons!

Fuji X Weekly Patrons also get early access to some new film simulation recipes. There are 7 brand-new film simulation recipes that only Patrons can view. These recipes will eventually be published on Fuji X Weekly—free to everyone—but right now they’re available only to Patrons. As new early-access recipes are cycled into the app for Patrons, the others will be made available on this website and on the app free to all, so no worries.

By becoming a Fuji X Weekly Patron, which is only $19.99 annually, you unlock the app’s full potential, you get early access to some new film simulation recipes, and you help support Fuji X Weekly! It’s a win-win!

So much time (and money) has gone into creating this app. I believe that it will be useful to many of you, and I also believe it can grow into so much more. I can’t do it without your support. I appreciate everyone who has helped in one way or another already. I appreciate everyone who becomes a Patron! The Fuji X Weekly audience (that’s you!) truly is the best!

The Fuji X Weekly app will be available in the iOS App Store on December 1st. Download it to your iPhone or iPad! If you have a Mac with an M1 chip, you’ll be able to download the app, too, which might be useful for those who use X RAW Studio (it should be available for all Mac computers in a future update). I hope that an Android version will come along sometime next year, but right now it’s only available for Apple (if you don’t have an iPhone and don’t want to miss out on the app, you can probably find a good deal on an iPad this holiday season). I know that you’ll love the Fuji X Weekly app, and I’m super excited for its release!

I want to give a shout-out to Sahand Nayebaziz, the app developer (and Fujifilm photographer) who turned this idea into a reality. Thank you for all your hard work, and for lending your skills to this project!

Look for the Fuji X Weekly app in the iOS App Store on 12/01/2020!

A real shame this isn’t out for Android.

      • Ritchie Roesch · November 24, 2020

I hope that it will be sooner than later. It’s in the plans, for sure!

      • shifteleven · November 25, 2020

Looking forward to the Android version.

This reminds me that I want to learn Flutter so that I can build Android and iOS simultaneously 🙂

      • Ritchie Roesch · November 25, 2020

I wish that I knew so much more about code and app making. Hopefully the Android version comes out sooner than later, but the road is long.

    • Ritchie Roesch · November 24, 2020

You are welcome! I can’t wait, either!

      • Darren · November 24, 2020

I mean it is an awesome idea!

Absolutely awesome Richie cant wait for this to come to android. Just want to say thank you for all the work you put into this site. Its helping alot of people spend more time our rather than behind a computer.

    • Ritchie Roesch · November 24, 2020

Thanks so much! That was my personal motivation: spend less time fiddling and more time capturing. I’m glad to be helpful to others!

  5. flatlandvoyeur · November 24, 2020

Congratulations! What you have achieved is awesome. In fact, it is a turning point for third party camera apps options and a wonderful creative tool for all Fujifilm lovers and FujiX Weekly followers. Waiting for December 1st! Enrique

    • Ritchie Roesch · November 24, 2020

Thanks so much! I appreciate your kind and encouraging words!

    • Randy Photography · November 25, 2020

It’s not for “all” FujiFilm lovers…only the ones with an apple product.

      • Ritchie Roesch · November 25, 2020

For now, I suppose. It’s a small miracle that there’s an app at all. It takes a lot to make one, both time and money. It’s really been a process, and a long road, to get it where it is. But I keep pressing forward, hoping to be helpful to other photographers.

      • Mark C · November 26, 2020

Here’s an idea, since you’re so unhappy why don’t you take the time, effort and money and create an Android app? That way you could keep busy and not complain about someone who generously took the time out of his life to create something for others to enjoy. Seriously, Ritchie has said over and over he is working on getting an app for Android as soon as he is able to do so. We get it, your unhappy.

  6. Connor Lengkeek · November 24, 2020

this is so great! awesome contribution. Curious, but what sensors will these new recipes be for?

    • Ritchie Roesch · November 24, 2020

      Thanks so much! Bayer, X-Trans I, X-Trans II, X-Trans III & X-Trans IV. There’s something for everyone!

  7. Michael · November 24, 2020

    Really great. Thank you!

  8. Ricardo Richon Guzman · November 24, 2020

    Great Move Ritchie!!!

always ahead into motivating more fuji shooters to “unlock” full potential 😉

    • Ritchie Roesch · November 24, 2020

I appreciate it! Thanks so much! I’m hope you like the app!

  9. Tom · November 24, 2020

Great to hear and i´m glad to see this app! Thank you so much…
by the way: i find it a litte bit bad that you can only pay annualy. i hate Subs…a unique pay would be better, only my opinion.
    Thank you!
    Best Regards

    • Ritchie Roesch · November 24, 2020

You know, I went back-and-forth on it. I’m not certain that the price or annual renewal is best. I hope that I did the right thing. I hope that the advancements that are coming down the road will make it worth it. I’m new to all this, so I can only do what I hope is best, and cross my fingers. I appreciate the comment!

  10. Brian · November 24, 2020

    Hey Ritchie!

This looks pretty awesome! Just to clarify, this is a recipe book and not something that enables actually applying recipes to photos on the iPhone, correct?

    Thanks, Brian

  11. Chantel · November 24, 2020

this is amazing! will the app handle RAW files?

    • Ritchie Roesch · November 24, 2020

The app doesn’t edit any pictures. That would be cool, though, if it could!

  12. Mark C · November 24, 2020

    Ritchie,
I did not find your Patreon page, can you post a link? I tried by your name and the site name.
BTW, excited for the app and happy for you, great job and thanks.

    • Ritchie Roesch · November 24, 2020

It’s coming December 1st! Not a Patreon page, but a Patron membership with the app. I should have been more clear, my apologies. I appreciate your kind words!

      • Mark C · November 25, 2020

Thanks, I’ll look for it in the app.

      • Ritchie Roesch · November 25, 2020

        Awesome!

  13. Khürt Williams · November 24, 2020

    Woot! Where’s the patron link?

    • Ritchie Roesch · November 24, 2020

It’s integrated into the app. When you download the app on December 1st, you’ll see the option. I hope to work it into the blog at some point, though. Thanks!

      • Khürt Williams · November 24, 2020

Cool. I have some of excitement coming in December. 😀

      • Ritchie Roesch · November 24, 2020

It’ll be a good cap to what’s been a challenging year.

  14. Essere · November 25, 2020

Great job! Really useful tool to have for every Fujifilm user! Fujifilm itself should learn a lesson on how to give additional favor to the wonderful film simulation.
Looking fwd for android version. Right now I just keep playing with some favorite recipes.

    • Ritchie Roesch · November 25, 2020

Thanks so much! I would definitely love to have some conversations with Fujifilm about how they could do more with it. I appreciate the comment!

  15. AndreMSilva · November 25, 2020

All I want to say is… Thank you!
    You are a wonderful person.

    • Ritchie Roesch · November 25, 2020

I appreciate it so much! You are welcome!

  16. tpsc · November 25, 2020

A pity the Android version has been relegated to next year. Nearly all photographers I know use Android, not Apple.

It is, but it takes soooo much time and money to get an app off the ground. It’s a small miracle that there’s an app at all. I’m just trying to be helpful, but I’m working with extremely limited resources. I can only do so much.

  17. Tuomas Nyqvist · November 25, 2020

    Hello Mr Roesch,

I have been a long time fan of your site and especially the wonderful recipes you so kindly have published. This new App is a major thing and I’m really excited! I’ll gladly become a Patron, it’s the least I can do.

Can I please ask you to ask from Sahand Nayebaziz what he thinks about the Sailfish OS?

    https://jolla.com/#SailfishOS https://sailfishos.org/ https://sailfishos.org/wiki/Application_Development

The reason behind it is this: Sailfish OS is a small but different OS for mobile phones. It’s not spying on you like the Android and iPhone does. It’s in fact the only viable alternative OS left on the market, many have fallen, like Firefox OS and so on.

No, I’m not asking that you would start to use your valuable time and energy to make a third version of the FujiXweekly App for Sailfish. That would be too much to even ask. Actually Sailfish can run Android apps and most of them work flawlessly on Sailfish. Sailfish UI and user experience is built on swipes and therefore apps run handier as native apps.

I’m thinking of using the code for Android to build a native version to Sailfish. But that’s of course you’ll need to evaluate can it be obtained for such a thing or not. I’m unfortunately not a programmer. I’m just another Sailfish user. But I could find somebody within the Sailfish OS community who is a developer – who would also be a Fuji shooter and interested in building a native version.

I know…maybe this was a bit big question… but another thing I can do for you – is to translate the App to Finnish and Swedish, if you’ll let me.

    Best regards from Finland

Thank you for reaching out! I’ll talk with Sahand, for sure. I appreciate the comment!

  18. yuri rasin · November 25, 2020

Nice work Ritchie, looking forward to trying the app! Congrats!

  19. Cestbibi · November 25, 2020

Thank you Ritchie ! This is such a nice and wonderful idea. Now I think Fuji should really take some good note (if they haen’t yet) of the great work that you do here. So imagine next step with some kind of collaboration with you, just imagine if the app could communicate with our cameras and apply the recipes via bluetooth 🙂

    • Ritchie Roesch · November 25, 2020

I would love that! My wife asked me, “So what’s next?” And this is something we discussed. Of course, the hard part is getting Fujifilm on board, but hopefully a collaboration can happen someday.

  20. Emmanuel · November 25, 2020

    Seems really great
I just hope a Android version soon
    Well done!

    • Ritchie Roesch · November 26, 2020

Thank you! Hopefully it won’t take too long, but it’s not a short road.

  21. Essere · November 26, 2020

Hi Ritchie, have you considered fund raising on kickstarter to accelerate android app development? It is also a good way to boost awareness!

    • Ritchie Roesch · November 26, 2020

Hi! I hadn’t, but it’s an interesting idea! I will definitely look into it. I appreciate the suggestion!

  22. Peter Gene · November 26, 2020

Hi, what a great news! but I’d ask you is that app only for some certain Apple store? Mine is attached to Russian Apple Store and I cannot find that app there, thank you.

    • Ritchie Roesch · November 26, 2020

It will be in the App Store on December 1 at 8:00 am Greenwich (universal or zulu) Time. I hope it’s helpful to you!

  23. Jan-H · November 28, 2020

Hi Ritchie, this is pretty exciting news 🙂

I’m lucky enough to have both iOS and Android devices at hand, since I’m working as a product manager for mobile apps. Can’t wait for Dec, 1st 🙂 Your app might be the killer for my photo trips!

And yeah, having it on Android too would be great for me and probably many others. Maybe I can help with something there. I’d love to. Don’t hesitate to get in touch.

Tears. Of joy – for you and IOS users. Tears. Of sadness – for me, left alone hugging my Samsung….

    • Ritchie Roesch · December 1, 2020

Hopefully the Android app won’t take too much time to get out, but it is a long road.
