Update: Fuji X Weekly Android App Compatibility

The Fuji X Weekly — Film Recipes App for Android was released yesterday, and I’ve been overwhelmed by the feedback (this is not a complaint). The number one message I’ve received is: why is my device not compatible? The Fuji X Weekly app requires Android 10 or newer, so if your operating system is Android 9 or older it won’t work; however, compatibility with Android 9 (a.k.a. Android Pie) is coming soon, just as soon as Google approves it, hopefully before the end of the week.

A couple of months ago I conducted a survey in an attempt to find out what Android operating system most of you are using. The vast majority answered either Android 10 or Android 11. As it turns out, the survey missed a large group of people. Thankfully, none of the app’s features require Android 10, and Android 9 has sufficient security, so it wasn’t too difficult to create an update to make the app compatible with the Android 9 operating system. I’ll let you know just as soon as Google approves it; if you have Android 9 you’ll be able to get the app soon.

Most Android phones released in the past two years are capable of running on Android 10, so if your phone isn’t old, yet the Google Play store states that your device isn’t compatible, updating the software might remedy the problem. Most Android devices released in the past four years (and some that are older than that) are capable of running on Android 9, so once the app update is released, most people should be able to download the Fuji X Weekly app. Just make sure the software on your device is up-to-date.

I want to apologize for the frustration some of you have experienced because the app isn’t compatible with your device. Hopefully the issue will be resolved quickly.
