Save the Dates! Upcoming Fujifilm Events

There are a number of Fujifilm and Fujifilm-related events that are coming up soon, especially in September and October. I’ll be at a few of them, so I wanted to give you a heads up, in case you want to stop by and say hi or sign up for a class or photowalk.

First is the FocusPoint Photo & Video Expo in Denver, Colorado, on September 11th & 12th. I’ll be doing a class entitled Film Simulation in Action on September 12th at 10:30 AM, followed by a photowalk. Next is Fujikina NYC on October 16th, 17th & 18th. The details are still being worked out, but I believe I’ll also be doing both a class and photowalk. Having been a part of Fujikina Copenhagen in May, I can tell you with 100% certainty that if you can make it to a Fujikina event, you absolutely should, because it is completely worthwhile. There’s another event at the end of October—over Halloween weekend—that hasn’t been announced yet (details are subject to change), so I can’t give out the information; however, it will be in Toronto, so you might want to mark your calendars now.

If you live in or near Denver, I hope to see you in a little over five weeks at the FocusPoint Photo & Video Expo. If you live anywhere near New York City, you’ll want to attend Fujikina in October. And it’s no trick—only treats—that an event will take place in Toronto over Halloween weekend, and I’d love to meet you in-person if you are in that region.

Fujikina Copenhagen 2026 — May 9-10 — The Lab

Fujifilm just announced a Fujikina event in Copenhagen, Denmark, on May 9th and 10th, at The Lab. There will be artist talks, masterclasses, live shoots, and photowalks, among other things. I’ll be there. Magnum: A World in Color is a gallery that I’m personally looking forward to, I’ve heard great things about it. I hope that I can attend Jonas Rask‘s masterclass on street photography, which will certainly be great. If you are anywhere close to Copenhagen, be sure to attend what will surely be an epic event. I’ll be leading two photowalks, one on May 9th and one on May 10th. Both are scheduled for 2:00 PM. If you’d like to attend one of those, you will need to sign up for it, which you can do when you register for the event. I will also be giving a short talk on Film Simulations and Fujifilm Recipes in Studio 4 at 11:30 AM on May 9th and 11:00 AM on May 10th. Outside of that, I’ll be hanging around the Film Simulation station. Even if you cannot attend a photowalk or talk, be sure to stop by and say hello. I would love to meet you and chat with you!

Fujikina is an event hosted by Fujifilm that celebrates the craft, culture, and community of photography. First launched in 2022, Fujikina brings photographers together for photo exhibitions, presentations, workshops, hands-on experiences, and photowalks in cities around the world. It feels less like a traditional trade show and more like a festival. The name itself is a nod to Photokina, the legendary expo held in Cologne, Germany, from 1950 to 2018. For decades, Photokina served as photography’s global gathering place. Fujikina is not a direct replacement, but it carries a similar spirit: bringing photographers together in person, just in a smaller, more community-centered way and focused specifically on the Fujifilm brand.

Fujikina is not an X Summit. Fujifilm announces new products at X Summits, and not Fujikina. Some Fujikina events have happened near and coincided with an X Summit, but not all of them. When they are synchronized, it typically means that Fujikina is the first opportunity to touch-and-try a newly announced product. I have not heard of any new cameras or lenses being launched around the same time as this Fujikina, but, then again, I’m not in the know, and I have zero inside information. I typically find out the same way that you do. It’s not uncommon for Fujifilm to announce something in May, but whether or not there will be an opportunity to see something brand-new, there will certainly be opportunities to get hands on with cameras like the GFX100RF, X-E5, X half, and more. Either way, it will be worthwhile.

Fujikina Copenhagen is a don’t-miss event. If you are in Europe within a reasonable commute of Denmark, be sure to make it. Mark your calendars now, and register ASAP. I hope to see you there!

Join me THIS Sunday in Minneapolis

If you live in or near Minneapolis, Minnesota, please join me at Fujifilm’s Create With Us event on Sunday, September 28th. This is going to be super fun, with a lot of different things going on. Bring your camera—have a spare SD Card just in case—and wear some comfortable walking shoes.

I’ll be cohosting a Live Fujifilm Tech Talk with Christopher Gilbert from 12:30 to 1:15. I’ll also be leading a photowalk from 2:00 to 4:00. At other times, I’ll be at the Fujifilm X-E5 touch-and-try station. If you go, be sure to find me at one of those spots, and say hello. Also, my friend Tom Baumgaertel (bewaremyfuji) will be leading a photowalk from 4:00 to 6:00, and you won’t want to miss it. There are other photowalks, too, that will also be excellent, so be sure to join at least one of them.

You have to register to attend, which costs $5. There are also some workshops on the 27th that cost extra. Hope to see you in Minneapolis!
