After my Why I Love… series, which included the Fujinon 18mm f/2, Fujinon 27mm f/2.8, Fujinon 35mm f/2, and Fujinon 90mm f/2, I’ve been asked a few times which Fujinon lenses I currently own. I have a few third-party lenses and a number of vintage lenses, too, but the questions were specifically which Fujinon lenses are in my collection, so I’ll just talk about that.
My favorite Fujinon lens is the 27mm f/2 (read my review here). Because this is also my wife’s favorite lens and we share it, I often use the Fujinon 35mm f/2 (read my review here) as an alternative that is a close second-favorite. When I want to go wide-angle, I use the Fujinon 18mm f/2 (read my review here), and when I want to go telephoto, I chose the Fujinon 90mm f/2 (read my review here). This is actually a really good wide-standard-telephoto setup, and if I wasn’t sharing lenses, I’d only need the 27mm or 35mm and not both.
Some of you might be surprised to learn that I have other Fujinon lenses (and I’m not talking about the one permanently attached to my Fujifilm X100V). I own a Fujinon 100-400mm telephoto zoom (read my review here) that I occasionally use when I need something longer than 90mm. It’s the most expensive lens that I’ve ever purchased, and for how much it cost, I don’t use it nearly as much as I should. My wife owns three Fujinon lenses (that I have access to): the Fujinon 10-24mm f/4, the cheap kit Fujinon 16-50mm (read my review here), and the Fujinon 50-230mm (read my review here). The 10-24mm lens is the most used of those three, and I do borrow it occasionally, but if my wife isn’t using the 27mm f/2.8, then she’s using the 10-24mm f/4 (especially for video), so it’s not always available. The 16-50mm lens is almost never used by either of us, although it has been attached to a camera for video a few times. I borrowed the 50-230mm lens occasionally before I purchased the 100-400mm, but now it’s pretty much never used, except by my wife every once in a long while.
In order of most used to least used by both my wife and I combined: 27mm f/2.8, 35mm f/2, 90mm f/2, 10-24mm f/4, 18mm f/2, 100-400mm, 50-230mm, 16-50mm.

Great to hear about your Fuji specific lens choices!
90% of the time, a Fuji XF50mm f2 is attached to my XT30 – I use it for almost everything. With the equivalent full frame focal length of 75mm, this lens forces me to narrow in on subjects and parts of scenes instead of the whole scene. It’s a great street shooter and awesome for urban exploration. It’s also a perfect indoor lens for portraits and capturing people at socials, parties etc. Coming from Sigma. 1.4 lenses, I never thought the f2 would be able to match – I was totally wrong!
For the wider stuff and Astro I’ve got the 18mm f2. Good lens for what I paid, it’s compact, AF is slow but easy to work around it and make the most of the optics.

I would hang onto the 35mm f/2 for a bit. My favorite travel lens choice is 16mm f/1.4 (large, I know-but a beautiful lens), 23mm f/2, 35mm f/2, and 50mm f/2. You have the 18mm f/2 so when you get the 50 you’d have a lovely combination of lenses to travel with. With the X100V you have a 23mm. Seems like every time I sell a lens suddenly I see a need for it and regret it.
I appreciate the advice! Still have the 35mm f/2, and still use it, but I’d probably have to sell it to get the 50mm f/2, so I’m undecided on what to do right now.

I have only two at the moment. My favourite Fujinon lens is the XF27mmF2.8 but I hope to “update” to the XF 27mm F2.8 R WR once it’s in stock. I have the XF16-55mm F2.8 R LM WR and I have also adapted a few legacy Minolta Rokkor-X and Takumar M42 lenses.
I want only one other lens; the XF100-400mmF4.5-5.6 R LM OIS WR. I’ve rented it a few times for bird photography but I’m ready to own it. Let me know if/when you’re ready to sell yours. 😁

Right now, the only one fujinon i have is the 16mm f:2,8.
As I already say, he was not my first choice but I got it in an very affordable kit.
I like it, very small, well made, and it’s a good compromise for a moderate wide angle because I’m not realy comfortable with very wide angle lens.
The next one will be a 35mm (certainly the f:2) ; I loved this focal on my EOS (until his fatal fall). The quality and the compacity of the fujinon are very atractive !

Like, you, I have a few Fuji lenses. I started with a Fuji x100f, then quickly upgraded (?) to the x100v for the better lens, but I miss the dial on the back of the x100v. I liked these x100 cameras so much I decided rather quickly to sell all my Nikon gear (Nikon z6ii, and several lenses and Nikon SB400 flash) and move to Fuji. After a used X-Pro2 failed during a rather important photoshoot I sold it and got a new X-T3, which I like a lot. For my real estate listings shoots I got the 10-24mm f/4, and a little Godox TT350 flash, a perfect combo for me. Then for non-real estate work I bought a 18-55mm, a 35mm f/2, and a 50mm/2. Then recently I bought a Tamron for Fuji 18-300mm lens, which I like a lot OTHER THAN the weight! I use the 50m f/2 for portrait work, and don’t use the 35mm f/2 much. I may use it for street photography when the weather cooperates, although my street photography and “general purpose” camera is my x100v. I bought the wide angle adapter for it as well, but seldom use it. All in all, I’m happy with the Fuji system, and it is fun to fool around and experiment with your film sims, for which we all thank you again very much….

Yes, with my Nikon Z7 and Z6ii I had their 15-30mm lens, and the Fuji 10-24mm works equally well for my real estate shoots!
Strange though it may seem, I have stuck with the 16-80 kit lens on my X-T4, and have yet to feel any urge to upgrade. The trick is to keep “prime mind” and decide on the focal length I want (usually either all the way at one end or the other) before starting to take the shot. This keeps things super-simple, and I’ve always disliked changing lenses in the field. I find that f/4 is almost always fast/shallow enough for what I do, but for those times when it isn’t, there’s the X100V.
That lens covers pretty much all the focal lengths that one typically needs. I agree that changing lenses “in the field” is far from ideal.
Currently just have 3 lenses for the Fujis other than vintage lenses.
For zooms I have the 18-55mm and 55-200mm. These two are my landscape kit essentially. Then when I need a prime I have the 23mm f2.
Looking to pick up the 10-24, a 35mm, and the 27mm in the future. Maybe a 100-400 if I find myself needing the reach for wildlife.
I definitely recommend the 27mm f/2.8 if you can find it. The 10-24mm is pretty good, although it’s f/4 minimum aperture limits its use in low-light. I appreciate the input!

I have 4 Fuji XF lenses :
– 16-55mm f/2.8
– 35mm f/1.4
– 90mm f/2
– 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6
I use a lot the 100-400, because i do wildlife photography most of the time.
But my favorite one is the 90mm, that I use for portrait and concert photos.
I use the 35mm for street photo, and the 16-55 when i need wide range and/or when I know that I’ll often change my field of view.

Love the XS10 Ritchie, 16-80 is a nice lens although I prefer primes. Not sure about the I.S. on the lens because it has no switch, when I turn off I.S. for the S10 dies it turn of the lens as well?
I’m not sure. It’s my understanding that it works “in unison” with the X-S10 IOS, but I’m not sure if it’s “always on” or if turning IOS on the camera to off also turns it off on the lens.
I’m find using the 56mm f/1.2 a lot lately for street photography. I expected the new 33mm would be the default mainstay, but the 56mm visual signature is exquisite.

Just recently got myself an X-E4 with the 27mm f2.8 for everyday carry and travel. Then the 16mm f2.8 and now ordered the 23mm f2 to try and compare for a few days, maybe i like that one even more than the 27mm.
Oh and btw. thanks a lot for making me fall in love with the fuji system, already think about getting rid of my sony ff gear and deep dive more into fuji… xD

My Fujinon zooms are the 18-55 and the 70-300. I have only one Fujinon Prime,the 35 mm F2, but have suppllied my set up with two Samyangs, the 12mmF2 and 135mmF2. I am also planning to buy one of the new 1.4 lenses, but i am torn between the 18 or 23mm. need more reviews 🙂
Set your zoom to 18mm for week, and the 23mm for a week, and see which FOV you prefer. Both lenses are great.

Awesome! The Samyang/Rokinon 12mm f/2 is a pretty good lens.
Currently the most used now for my X-T20 is the 27mm WR which I got this secondhand with a good price and immediately replaced the 23mm F2 for the street snaps (maybe I will sell it and purchase either 16mm, 35mm or 50mm). Other lenses are 15-45 kit lens (also bought very cheap secondhand, very good at 15mm but soft on 45mm) which come very handy when traveling with family, a group of lenses (16mmf2.8, 56mmf1.2,and 50-140 f2 8) borrowed from a friend who moved to Sony camp (I kind of voluntarily ‘taking care’ those abandoned lenses since she doesn’t sell them hahaha), and some 3rd party manual lenses.
Somehow I want to try the f1.4 lenses but the price is very high. Maybe I will consider 3rd party lenses as options :p
The high price of certain lenses is why I don’t own them, but maybe someday. Still, the 27mm f/2.8 is excellent and not particularly expensive, and I’m extremely happy with it.

Next to the 23 on my X100V, the 27mm is my go to lens.
18 f2, 35 f2, 90 .. Hmm sounds like someone else’s list hahaha.. my x-e3 should arrive next week, (to back up my X-T2) so the 27 can’t be far behind.. just got the 10-24 the other day. Next up is probably the 18-55 and 55-200 for those unfortunate times when a zoom is necessary

Great to hear what everyone else is running and their thought process behind the choices. I started with the xc 15-45 as a kit lens with the xt-30, but it wasn’t wide enough for interior shots of small rental apartments so got a used 10-24. Found a super cheap new xc 50-230, but it didn’t have the reach I wanted at times for birds/ wildlife so picked up a used 100-400 for specific outings. Just sold the two xc zooms and upgraded to the new 33 f/1.4 and 70-300 for biking and travel.
I’m moving soon and have to leave behind the xt-30 & 10-24 for the company, so I’m hoping that there’s a new xt-5 or weather sealed xt-40 coming soon after the XH-2. Then I’ll have to decide what to replace the 10-24 with for landscape/ architecture as it is my favorite and most used lens. Possible the 10-24 WR or a prime in the 12-16 range. Suggestions?
I’ve heard excellent things about the 70-300mm and the 33mm f/1.4. The Rokinon/Samyang 12mm f/2 is a good ultra-wide-angle lens to try that doesn’t cost too much.
I don’t have any inside information, but I don’t think the X-T5 or X-T40 (which probably won’t be weather-sealed) will come in 2022. I think the focus will be X-H2 (two of them!), and possibly a new X100-series, but probably not. More likely an entry-level X-T300 or X-A8… I think 2023 will be a year where we see a lot of new (X-Trans V) cameras. But, again, I don’t really know.
Just some wishful thinking on a soon to be released xt5 or a weather sealed body on a less expensive model…I’ve been reading about the new Samyang 12mm f/2 AF and also the Viltrox 13mm f/1.4, but don’t know much about them or anywhere to see them in person yet.
I bought my Fuji XT2 + 18-55 f/2.8-4 on the occasion of my last trip to Japan in 2018. I am still using the 18-55 for 80 to 85% of my pictures, followed by the 56 mm f/1.2 R and the 35 mm f/2 WR. I am hesitating to replace the 18-55 by either the 16-55 f/2.8 (great lens, but costly and heavy!) or the 16-80 f/4. I am living in Thailand and I am into street photography (actually markets), temples, portraits and a little bit of landscapes.
If the 18-55mm is working out for you, I’d definitely stick with it. Maybe if the 35mm f/2 isn’t used often, perhaps replace it with either something wider than 18mm or more telephoto than 56mm?
Yep good to see what others are using : I started with the XC15-45 as my kit lens that came with XT-30, which was actually a pretty good entry point but did have some restrictions for what I wanted to shoot. I now have the 10-24mm WR which is my main lens at the moment and also the 55-200mm which I use in combination for landscape/rural documentary work; both picked up used from MPB in superb condition. Looking to add the new 33mm f1.4 when funds permit, which will then complete my lens line up. Great website/app by the way – the film recipes have really helped me develop my work.

I have the 10-24 f/4 (mark 1), the 16-55 f/2.8 (desert island lens) and the 55-200. That covers pretty much everything in terns of “range”. And then I have some primes to cope with a) low light b) travelling light c) shooting unobtrusively: 18mm f/2, 23mm f/1.4, 35mm f/1.4 and 50mm f/2. Too many lenses, probably, but I use and like ’em all, so not likely to prune any further… 🙂

Hi. I would like to try out the conversion lenses for the X100V (they seem impossible to get at the moment). I’m waiting on a used 16mm f1.4 to arrive in the post, plus i have a 35mm f2 and a viltrox 56mm 1.4, all being used on a new to me XT3.
I’ve never used the conversion lenses, but they are intriguing. Going the used (or, “new to me”) route is an excellent way to save money.
I’m a new member of the Fuji mirrorless world, as I have just purchased a new X-E3 and a used X-E2. I’ve picked up the 18-55/f2.8-4 and the 16/f2.8. I’m leaning toward buying the 27/f2.8 and leaving it at that for some time. I’ve been considering the popular f2 lineup (23/35/50) but I get all of that in my little 18-55 which gives amazing results in sufficient light.
What are your thoughts and advice?
I own a Sony RX10IV which I use for wildlife and video. My Fuji’s are covering all of my other photographic needs white nicely.
If you need more reach, the 90mm f/2 is an excellent addition. Otherwise, maybe something like the 33mm f/1.4 (or another large aperture option) that gives you something the 18-55mm doesn’t. The 27mm f/2.8 (which will match well with the X-E cameras) is excellent for small/light travel or street–my favorite lens–so you’ll have to consider if having that small/light option is important because it is covered by the 18-55mm, too. I hope this is helpful advice somehow.
I went from Canon to Fuji to have a small, lightweight bag. So I’m slightly embarrassed to say I now own 5 Fuji lenses (excluding the box full of Takumars and Rokinon 12mm).
The 35F2 is the most used. Love the colour and small size. Next is 16F1.4 – sharp and fun close-ups. The 90F2 is just amazing for landscapes and outdoor portraits. The 70-300 is new so getting lots of attention. I like the reach, but not a fan of the bokeh. The 18-55 never gets used.
Thanks for sharing! The 90mm f/2 is such a great lens, one of the absolute best. The 35mm f/2 is a favorite of mine, but I actually prefer the 27mm f/2.8 more, so I will choose it over the 35mm most of the time. Is it possible to have too many lenses? Maybe, and I might be there right now, lol!
I’m pretty late to the party, but love your post and reading about everybody’s set up! The 27mm f2.8 has been my go to lens this year, but it’s up for sale as I evolve to a new lineup. First, I have the X100T with the 23mm f2 as my every day carry. It’s the camera that got me into the Fujifilm ecosystem and I keep returning to it for it’s balance of features and that pleasing X Trans II sensor. Most of the time I’m on my bike or working outdoors, so the X100T gives me piece of mind. I’m not worried about damaging it, getting mud splashed on it or loosing it the as I would be with my other Fuji. I’m also fortunate to have an X-E4 with the 18mm f2 (second favorite lens), the 23mm f1.4 and the Sigma 56mm f1.4. I was originally planning to sell the 23mm 1.4 as it’s redundant with the 23mm on the T, but thought it through and decided to sell the 27mm instead, here’s my thinking. For starters, I just love the original 23mm f1.4 R. It’s sharp, fast and has a great prime lens retro look. I love the clutch focus, which provides the best X manual focus experience IMO. I figure I can produce similar images to the 27mm with a bit of cropping, and I pick up an extra few stops of light and some awesome bokeh. Time will tell if I chose wisely.
I think trust your gut. In 2022, I shot with the Fujinon 27mm f/2.8 more than any other lens, but I don’t know if that will hold true for 2023. So if you’ve thought it out and feel good about it, you’ve probably done the right thing. Thanks for the input!
Well, that lineup didn’t last long. I’ve recently reconfigured after I realized the benefits of a compact and lightweight carry. New lineup: Fujinon 18mm f2, 27mm f2.8, 35mm f2 and 50mm f2. I also upgraded to the X-Pro3 with an X-E3 as my second body. That’s my new lineup and I think it will stick.
The X-Pro and X-E series are easy to love! I bet both models stick around for awhile.
