Fuji X Weekly App Update

Over the weekend I released a very small update to the Fuji X Weekly App, for both Apple and Android. This was supposed to be included in a much larger and more significant update (that’s coming soon), but I’m still working on some of the upcoming features and improvements, so I decided to just get this smaller one out now. It fixes a minor bug that most of you probably didn’t notice. It also changes the functionality of something, which I thought deserved an explanation.

The functionality change has to do with Filter by WB and Filter by DR. Prior to this update, both of those Filter options were “choose one” types, which means you picked the one option that you wanted. By request, both of those are now “choose one or more,” which means that you can select as many as you’d like.

The reason why you might wish to select more than one White Balance type is that, perhaps, you want to choose all three of the Auto options (Auto, Auto Ambience, and Auto White). Before you couldn’t do that, and you had to pick only one of the Auto options at a time, but now you can select all three if you want. For Dynamic Range, you can select (say) DR-Auto, DR100, and DR200, and filter out all of the Recipes that use DR400 and DR-P (this seems more helpful for reprocessing RAW files in-camera or with X RAW Studio).

This isn’t a game-changer type update, as it will likely have a minimal impact for most people (if at all). But for some, this will help them out a little. The upcoming update, which I’m hopeful will be ready later this month or maybe early next month, will be much more robust, and will directly help all users, providing an improved experience for everyone.

I hope the minor bug was that one of the app closing while passing from portrait to landscape and back (at least on android) 😁

I was unaware. Which Android device and operating system version?

It’s a Nothing Phone (1) with Android 15 up to date. Basically, if by mistake I tilt the screen from portrait, once I get back to the vertical position in most of the cases the app crashes

Thank you! Working on a fix.

        Thx for reporting it rederik75.
Never tried before to be honest, as never had the use to go to portrait having a large screen with my Samsung S21 Ultra which covers enough.

But with your report, I’ve tried it out.
Sorry Ritchie, but the app do crash indeed on smartphone too when you tilt back. Either way from portrait to landscape, and vice-versa.
My S21 Ultra is up to date with Android 15 with Samsung OneUI 7 and the rest (security update, etc).
After 3 crashes, Samsung OneUI 7 report the app having a bug and offers then to clear the app cache.
Once done, I can tilt back and forth but only doing so 1 time. Then it crashes again and again, until next app cache wipe out.
I’ve tested the app on my sons Galaxy S24FE which have Android 16 with OneUI 8 now. And also on Android 14 from older Samsung devices.
Same results / behaviour. So linked to Android environment.
You might need to check with your developer(s) what happens with the cache during tilt operations: portrait to landscape and/or landscape to portrait.
Temporary file handling issue during the redisplay after titling?
Minor bug for me but might be nice to solve it along your big ahead release.
Looking forward it by the way.
        Wishing good work (and debug).

Thanks for the effort! Working on a fix right now.

Interestingly enough, on my cheap and old Samsung Galaxy A01, running on Android 12, this problem doesn’t exist. Probably time for me to get a new Android phone….

Yep. And beware of the security breaches with older Operating Systems, especially on Android…
Current time is not good at all security wise.
Saying this, new is sometime not the best.
Last version are chasing too much on iOS and vice versa. Nothing really new / astonishing. And last iOS with liquid / transparent effect 🤮 Hope it will never reach Android (or OneUi).
I miss this older version of Android and I’m not surprised you do not have the issue.
        Time to upgrade indeed.
Especially for beta testing the app…

I’m definitely not a fan of iOS 26. It’s been frustrating, to say the least.

The reason why I’m on Android 12 is because the A01 is not compatible with any OS newer than that. I only use it for testing apps, and it has worked well for that purpose, but it is definitely time to be more up-to-date… I might have noticed the bug.
