I’m always working on new Film Simulation Recipes. Even though there are nearly 300 on the Fuji X Weekly App (available for both Android and Apple), I’m nowhere near finished. There are so many more that I want to create!
Recently I’ve been working on two specific Recipes that I’m especially excited about. I’m not going to say today what they are inspired by or are supposed to mimic—feel free to guess in the comments! Both required a lot of testing and adjusting and retesting and readjusting… and compromises. I look forward to sharing them with you soon. Which one are you most excited for: Recipe 1 or Recipe 2? Let me know!
Why should you shoot with Film Simulation Recipes? It’s a part of a better way to get a retro film look. It’s one of seven tips to get a film look from your digital photos. It’s popular. Why do I? It saves me a ton of time over post-processing RAW files and is so much more fun—shooting with Recipes on Fujifilm cameras has had such a profound impact on my photography and my life, no hyperbole!

Oohhh they both look great! #2 might be more my style though!
Awesome! Thanks for the feedback!
Both look great but no1 is exciting me the most
Awesome!
Both of these look great, #1 seems like it’d be one I like, hopefully it’s not a X-Trans V only recipe! And if it is… well… I’ll probably get a camera that has that sensor someday… :p
Thanks! You’ll find out soon 😉 😀
I like 1st one most but of them look great, I think they are both nostalgic negative base.
One is… sort of… it will make sense later….
I’m looking forward to both, especially number one in the desert.
Awesome!
Like everyone else I think they both look great, but I’m pulling towards #1…as long as it will work on my XT-3!! 😊
Thanks!
I’m digging #1! Looks like a super fun recipe
Awesome!
Looks like Bright Summer or Superior Summer.
Is it for X-Trans IV or V?
Yes? 😀
I guess #1 is along those lines, not too dissimilar… closer to Bright Summer than Superia Summer.
in the second, a terrible flashy yellow from nostalgic negativity. I’m not enthusiastic about nostalgic negativity – kitsch, pop.
the first – the topic is not disclosed. only the first photo caught my eye, the rest did not linger.
How do you know it’s Nostalgic Neg. and not Eterna? Could be Eterna…. The aspect ratio is the clue for these Recipes.
Thank You!
I’m looking forward to it.
I’ve just purchased x-e4 with the 27mm based on your work, in addition to my two week old x100v. I’m a pro commercial photographer and have been getting bored with my Nikons and Canons (and Phase and Mamiya and Leica and Ricoh, and x100t and xpro1) , so I really needed something for more personal stuff.
Your work is gorgeous, and I am grateful for your time and effort.
Oh, awesome! I’m so happy to hear it! Glad to be helpful, it’s a real honor.
No1 is giving me wes anderson vibes! Can’t wait for the recipe
You are definitely on the right track!
Is #2 mostly suited for indoors? Would have liked to see how they both behave in similar situations. Hope it works with. X-T4 liking 1 but maybe outdoors 2 would be good too?
Number two is mimicking a specific indoor aesthetic. It will all make much more sense once published. 😀
Thank you so much for this great work you are doing! I’m getting Cinestill 50D / Wes Anderson vibes from these new recipes. They look REEEEALLLLY dope! Can’t wait!
Awesome! You are definitely on the right track with your assessment.
